An adolescent's mind is a pandora box.

An adolescent's mind is a pandora box filled with various thoughts focusing on different aspects of life and career is one of them, occupying most of the space. Growing up every other person gets this one question “What do you want to do when you grow up?" "Who do you want to be like?” . Well all our answers changed with time from a teacher, to a doctor, to most of us ending up doing things that aren't the things that we told. Our dreams and plans changed with time so did our careers. While a few have it all planned and the rest are either trying to figure what to do or are just going with the flow. We come from a generation where opportunities are endless. Choosing what’s right for us has always been an issue. We are a generation that's been called “lazy,” “entitled,” “selfish,” and “demanding,” but despite accusations that we’re ruining the modern workforce, more young people today are making sacrifices for their careers than they may get credit for.

We are a generation that's completely confused to make the right career choice since the work market and the career choices are endless. With the revolution of mobile phones and technology, getting information regarding anything has become quite easy. Along with this revolution rose a bunch of websites and videos ranging from 5 minute life hacks to career guidance to dealing with real life issues. The amount of information that we get bombarded with is like playing paintball. The impact is either a slight sting or a firm flick on the head. We simply keep accessing information without verifying. Hence the constant state of being confused.

Adding to the existing misery is the societal pressure to meet some unknown person's set standards. Consider a classic example of a student scoring 90% in his/her 10th boards. Now If the student doesn't opt for a science based stream ,everyone including the student's parents will start subtly pressuring the kid to take up science based courses. Since it's against the society norms for a student with such a good score to study something other than science. This constant battle between what society and your parents expect of you against your own desires leads to a muddled up state.

On the brighter side we are also the generation that's willing to learn and upskill.

Millennials often have a strong desire to make a large impact. Even if their first or current gig isn’t where they hope to ultimately land, working hard to develop a foundation of knowledge and a growing network of professional contacts is something they're extremely good at. There was a point where people had to work hard and prove that they were smart. Millennials these days are lazy and smart, they know how to get work done in a very short span of time with very little effort from their side.

This discussion could go all day long. Do adolescents know what they want when it comes to their career? Are they sure about their career choices? Well the answer to this is, "I am confused".
